Our Story

Lovingly Restored

District Flats is a former New Orleans-style law office building that has been carefully restored by Allison and Pat Buchanan.  Allison and Pat wanted to create eight apartment residences in Pascagoula’s historic downtown district.  Built in 1972, a few years after Hurricane Camille, the law partners who built it – including Allison’s father – wanted to build an elegant office building – that would also be “hurricane proof” – so that the firm’s families could shelter there if needed.  Pat worked as the managing partner of the firm that resided in this building in the late 90’s and into the 2000’s.

This beautifully constructed building not only features incredible architectural details – that have been lovingly preserved – it was also constructed with 13″ thick masonry walls and steel “I” beam construction.  Allison’s and Pat’s vision was to renovate District Flats so they could breathe new life into an historic office building that has played a part their lives, while also allowing them the privilege of being a part of investing in and helping to revitalize Pascagoula, where Allison grew up.

The unique entrance of District Flats features an elegant grand staircase as you enter the building and a private courtyard as you exit the building. With historic common areas that have been carefully preserved, District Flats’ amenities include a private exercise room/gym, a library with great books, a private coffee shop styled “internet café,” common area workspaces, sitting areas, and more, the apartment residences provide modern comforts set in a lovingly preserved historic office building.
